On the Road Again Part 2…

A week ago I had the opportunity to race again.  It had been almost six months since I had raced last and the nerves were flowing stronger than ever!  While my health was not 100% going into BOLDER Boulder 10k, I was ready to tackle that first race and knew it would provide me with some good competition to get me used to racing again.

It’s amazing what a race can do for you.  Since finishing 3rd at the BOLDER Boulder I am finally feeling like my old self again, and have actually had a great week of training!  It was like the race “kicked” my butt into another gear.  I didn’t run as fast as I have in the past but it was just the little push I needed both physically and emotionally.  I didn’t realize pre-race how my foot really did impact me up to this point.  While I never thought about it breaking again or causing any problems, my subconscious was thinking different!  The “phantom pains” I was experiencing pre-race proved to be mental when I got an x-ray three days later and my doctor was stunned by the new bone growth in the last 12 weeks!  Another positive step forward!

I am so thankful for those people in my life that have TRULY been there through not only the ups, but the numerous downs.  They have believed in me no matter what!  Thank you also to First Endurance for always believing in me and to Brooks Running for taking a chance on me!  Thank you also to Herzog Sport Compression, Nuun, and NormaTec for supporting me along this journey!  I am a lucky girl and feel blessed to be out on the roads again, doing what I love!
