Day 22, feeling better…

Today I woke up feeling so much better that I cannot NOT be grateful for that.  While still not hungry I was able to force down some crackers, a piece of bread, and some Ginger Ale and some nuun!  I had to cancel all my morning appointments on tap, which means cancelling my Alter-G appointment as well.  Today was to be the first day I was going to get to run, and while it would be on the Alter-G, I was nonetheless excited.  Hopefully with some fuel and fluids in my system today I will have enough energy do give it a go this afternoon, even if it’s only a couple of miles.  I had to forgo yesterday’s bike workout I had on tap, but I believe this is my body’s way of saying, “chill out”, you’ll be running soon enough and the more rest the better!

I’m grateful that I got sick on what I call a “snow” day instead of a beautiful 70-degree day.  While I had to cancel the Mother’s Day festivities at our house yesterday, it was a good day for everyone to curl up at home and not go anywhere.

While 2014 has started a bit rocky, I know there is so much good in store and that I will always be able to be grateful.  I believe I’m on the upswing from all of this and I’ve been sure to make the most of every opportunity presented to me in the last few weeks.  It’s amazing what good comes out of optimizing opportunities and getting out of your comfort zone more often.  As a runner, I’m going out of my comfort zone a lot, but I do not typically do that in my everyday life or when I’m cross-training.  I’ve been blessed with the ability to work on the things needing improvement during this injury and illness.  I believe I will come out of this a stronger runner and person and it will allow me to run more “free” and be more present in my everyday life.

I’m so grateful today and everyday.  I hope you can find plenty to be grateful for even when life is hard!
